Since 1988 the Nottingham centre has been at the forefront of educating professionals involved in Breast cancer screening in the UK and beyond.
From the beginning we have emphasised multidisciplinary breast care and have always encouraged all the members of breast teams to attend courses together. At Nottingham we offer the most comprehensive breast screening training available anywhere. Over the past nineteen years we have continually developed our training portfolio to ensure that the latest techniques and thinking on breast screening and other aspects of breast cancer care are reflected in our course content. Those visiting the institute can observe these principles being put into practice.
A large proportion of those involved with the National Health Service Breast Screening Programme have attended courses in Nottingham at some time or another. Nottingham is well known internationally, particularly through the courses at the Blamey Education Centre and the Nottingham International Breast Cancer Conference. This has been reflected in the cosmopolitan profile of the delegates who visit the institute each year for teaching courses and secondments together with clinical teams and patient representative groups from other countries who come to see how the Institute is designed around the patients’ needs.
In 2003 the centre moved into new, purpose built accommodation that allows us to extend further the training programmes we offer. Recent innovations include live video links to clinical areas to enable delegates to observe clinical procedures and pose questions on the techniques displayed.
Our philosophy is that research and teaching go hand in hand so when you come you will have new findings and approaches to observe.
The Nottingham Breast Institute provides all disciplines involved in breast care with the opportunity to enhance their clinical practice in a friendly and challenging environment.
