Nurse Practitioners

Karen Hassell
Nurse Practitioner

I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1999 and after initially working on a medical ward I then spent five years working on a surgical ward in Leicester caring for patients having surgery for breast cancer. I joined the team in Nottingham in 2005 as a Breast Care Nurse working with patients with advanced breast cancer, locally advanced breast cancer and elderly primary breast cancer. More recently I have worked as Breast Care Research Nurse for the University of Nottingham. In November 2008 I began training for my current role as a Breast Nurse Practitioner within the Institute.

I have a BSc (Hons) degree in Specialist Nursing Practice and will be undertaking a Masters Degree module in Clinical Breast Examination in June 2009.
