Consultant Pathologists

Consultant breast pathologists are doctors who have trained to interpret needle biopsies of the breast and decide whether a cancer is present or not.
Pathologists also examine surgical specimens to see if the whole of a breast cancer has been removed by the surgeons and to assess factors which help with the decisions regarding the need for further treatment e.g. hormone therapy, chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
